Glarea is the only school in the lower mainland with in-house ice rinks and our three ice sheets are perfect for our Skating and Hockey programs. This exclusive access requires less travel and allows for much more time on the ice. And when it comes to hockey, the streamlined size means more ‘touches’ and increased ability for focused, deliberate practice.

SKATING IS THE FOUNDATION

When focusing on the new or first-time student, they will be exposed to the game through development in an enjoyable environment participating in on and off-ice activities designed to introduce the fundamental individual skills.

30-minute sessions for K-5 are designed for dynamic, fast paced “games” (which are actually drills designed to get as many repetitions as possible. The K-5 years are where students will learn to “feel” the game through lots of what hockey coaches call “touches”. Glarea’s reduced ice size allows more deliberate & focused practice reducing the time student athletes require to sharpen their skills.  At Glarea, we have worked hard to create a Private School Hockey Program that improves both key skills and all around athletic ability, all while keeping kids active.
